while walking my two dogs, a jogger ran towards me he didnt stop or look around just kept coming towards me. This is on a bridleway off the road
I didnt put my dogs on a lead straight away as they are both friendly and dont chase, however from around the corner ran a collie dog which must have been owned by the jogger.
my dogs then ran up to the dog and as they are both friendly I didnt worry. My dogs did the normal sniffing etc and then the jogger went mad! running at my dogs kicking out at them and when i shouted at him, not to kick my dogs he pushed me.
My dogs did not touch his dogs in any way just the normal doggy greeting they are both very friendly the joggers dog was very nervous and was cowering down but my dogs did not fight treaten etc.
The jogger was shouting and screaming and picked up his dog.
The jogger a 6ft plus male was screaming that my dogs were attacking his dog who by now was being cuddled and petted in the joggers arms.
I am 5 ft 3 female and my dogs had not harmed or threated his dog in any way.
His dog was very nervous but there was no growling snapping at all.
I told the jogger I was going to report him to the police and when I got back to gateway where cars parked took the reg of the only other car there which must have belonged to jogger.
it seems that he was very over protective of his dog but as he hade made no attempt to call his dog or put it on a lead when he saw my dogs but just kept running towards me I saw no reason to panic.
I am concerned that he pushed me, kicked at my dogs and completly over reacted to a normal doggy greeting
I may report this to the police. Would you ?

How awful for you.

Yes I would report it, if only for it just being on record. He intimidated you, and even worse physically pushed you.

Hope you are ok.

Sx

I'd report it, as pushing you is technically assault. It's because of people like this that I always put Leah on her lead if we see another dog, even though she'd never hurt a fly. Something a little like this happened to me and my mum years ago, but it was funny rather than scary. Our little old JRT (who was REALLY ancient) slipped his harness and ran off down the road. We followed him and as we came round the corner we found him sitting at the feet of a man who was holding in his arms a gigantic Golden Retriever, peering nervously over his shoulder. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen! The poor man had picked his dog up because it was apparently very nervous and the man knew JRTs have a reputation for being snappy - the dog must have weighed at least five times more than little old Chaz!

Luckily the man was very nice and we had a little laugh about it, but it shows how mistrustful people can be of strange dogs, and how even the friendliest approach can be seen as frightening by paranoid owners.

Think I may report it tomorrow, just worried that i may come across him again.
Strange thing is why didnt he call his dog or put it on lead when her saw mine if he was so worried.
no wonder dog is a nervous wreck if thats how he behaves.
I do normaly put mine on leads when i see other dogs but I only saw him first and dog was running far behind him.
Total over reaction to normal doggy behaviour

I would have and always do grab my dogs when a jogger is heading towards us, 1, because I cannot be certain said person is scared of dogs and 2, because I would hate my dog/s to accidentaly trip a jogger over or knock a cyclist of their bike by causing them to swerve or veer, I also get my dogs close or on the lead if there are dogs approaching and mine are all friendly but I never assume the other dog is or indeed thats it's not nervous and may bolt or snack.......his dog may have totally ignore yours and yours went over to approach it, maybe his dog has been attacked in the past or he knew his dog would not approach your and choose to ignore them and thats why he got angry.........so for those instances, I would have to disagree .....but pushing you
shocked.gif
that was wrong and needs to be reported.

How incredibly rude of him !
ooo.gif

Kicking your dog when it done nothing wrong
mad.gif
And pushing you for no reason at all .
Sounds like a very odd person / reaction to that situation

I would report it .

Men can't go around attacking women who are out on their own like that. Totally, totally wrong. I hope you report him & that he gets a good telling off at the very least.

Hope you're okay & not too shocked.

TBH if it were me I suspect my scary step dad would have a word.... well actually he isn't scary at all but he is rather.... large!

Someone had road rage at him once so Jez got out of the car and upon watching him unfold the road ragey bloke jumped back into his car and drove away at quite some speed

Have you any updates? Did you report it yet?

Have not yet reported it but may do later today.
I do normally put my dogs on leads when I see other dogs, but as i said jogger was running a long way ahead of his dog and I didnt realise there was a dog with him to start with, also he just kept running towards me he was wearing a ipod and seemed in a world of his own.
my dogs are both very friendly and i realise that some people are scared of dogs, have nervous dogs etc but my dogs didnt try to harm his dog in any way.
He picked up his dog which in my opinion is the worst thing to do.
It may be a nervous dog but his over the top behaviour would only make it more nervous. I am in two mind about reporting it as I dont know if it would make things worse if i meet him again.
I might just avoid going on that walk for a while.
