My mare's always been a jogger out hacking which I've spent a long time rectifying, and 95% of the time she is now OK; she likes to push her luck sometimes but a quick reminder does the trick.
However, we're now having problems with jogging in the school! She's fine when on a long rein; its when I pick up a contact that she starts to jog.
Its not me over-riding her walk as she has a very forward going walk anyway, I don't really use my legs unless I'm asking her to do something (if that makes sense). Nor is the contact too strong as she won't tolerate that for a second
I have been trying picking her up, then giving her a long rein, then picking her up, etc, so she's not anticipating 'doing something' when I pick up the contact, but its not helping!
Anyone got any tips?
