Looking for some new jodhs, I realised I might have needed some new ones on Wednesday when I turned up at a very fancy riding school wearing a ripped, stained and very worn pair! I would ideally like them to be good for yard work, regular riding and competitions, but am not massively bothered about it, will happily get a separate pair! I've often had problems finding nice stretchy ones though! They all loose their stretch after the first wash, even when following instructions.. so anything that's nice and stretchy, and relatively hard wearing would be good.. price isn't an issue really :) Thanks in advance!! xx

Look up Townfield Saddlery to see their 'New Cord Jodphurs' they are wonderfully stretchy and great for riding or yard work. They are light weight so can be worn with comfort in the mild weather. They only come in Navy, Brown or Black though so you would need another pair for shows. They are about £36.50 I think.

I know you said price wasn't an issue, but I've had a pair of TBK's for 18 months that I used for weekly lessons until I bought my horse 4 months ago and now have 2 pairs which I alternate as I need a pair every day. I wear them for yard work and riding and even the first pair is still going strong.

They only cost about £22 from a local tack shop and I love the stretch and quality of stitching. I've just bought 5 pairs of another brand off Ebay and am not as impressed.

I would say the TBK's are possibly a bit stingy. I take a size 8 trouser/jeans but wear a size 26 TBK which I think is the equivalent to a 10. The 'gallop' jods I bought off Ebay were a 26 but smaller than the TBK's, don't feel as hard wearing either.
