tell me it isnt just me?!

i am a size 10. sometimes an 8 in jeans... but usually a 10.

so how come in johs my caldene kiddies ones i wear are a size 30 ?
and yet i have just bought adult caldene breeches that are a 26?

I have three different sizes of Jodhpurs! 34", 32" and 30", all which apart from the 34" feel the same, they are different makes mind but I normally wear a 12/14 in trousers/jeans and they tend to be a little loose. I found the same thing with riding jackets vs general coats, I have to buy an adult size in general coats but a child size in riding jackets or they are too big :S. Odd sizes, maybe I'm just odd lol : p.

I have the same problem, I am a UK 12 in jeans but all of my jods now I buy are 32 or even 34, I never know what size to buy if I look at other brands than my normal ones

Glad its not just me, I thought I was a right podge!! I am normally a 12/14 in trousers/jeans, yet am also wearing 32" breeches 90% of the time

The exception being derby house which I wear 28-30" in

Because your squeezing into a larger maids size, usually a lot shorter in the leg but you can get away with it if your a size 8 because there under your boots and nobody is none the wiser, so they act as breaches

not that I'd know

They drive me mad too but for a different reason! I find that a 26 fits me really well in the leg, but too tight round the waist, but if I go up a size so they fit me round the waist, they're all baggy in the leg, which I hate!!

Child sizes work better (I am more a 'straight down' shape!) but then I am a breeches person and you can only get jods in child sizes

Mark Todd just about work for me, still a bit tight round the waist but I prefer that to being baggy in the leg/bum

If anyone knows of any good 'straight down' type breeches please let me know - we're not all hourglass shaped!

diamondsr-have a look on the classic dressage website, pikeur do a certain shaped breeches that fit people with long skinny legs but who arent wasp waisted), i noticed whilst poking around yesterday!

i think 12/28 is normal isnt it?? as that makes me (a 6 in clothes) a 22 in breeches which is right.

Generally....
size 16 = 34"
size 14 = 32
size 12 = 30
size 10 = 28
size 8 = 26

However bear in mind that in high street shops there has been some "inflation" of sizing for vanity purposes so you may well need a size bigger in jodhs that are more likely to be cut to traditional sizes.

If you have small hips maids sizes may be a better fit, and Caldene do an extra long in maids - I had a pair when I was slimmer.

Personally I hate shopping for new jodhs, the worst thing is that they all assume we have massive bums, and although mine is far from small I often find I have to compromise between bum/hips size and waist size. I also hate the fact that saddleries always have one style in a 10 and another in a 12 etc no consistent stock so you find what you like and they don't have your size, but you don't want to order in as you can't be sure what size you will need. Plus the changing rooms are normally horrid and jodhs are a pain to get on and off.

This is why I'm still wearing a pair that are a good 7 years old......

Apparently the key is to add 20 on to your normal jeans size, so an 8 would be a 28 in jods. BUT..i dunno how well it works.

I'm an 8 in jeans normally, and I wear a kids 16 in jods, so thats a 28 I think..sometimes a 30 is ok (little loose tho) if they dont have 28. I'm about 5'8 or so, and they fit fine. Not even too short really, and if they are...then hey presto, you have breeches

In adults sizes..the hipster ones are also a 28, but thats becasue my hips are wider..normal jods in a 28 are way too big. Soo..for me, I normally wear adults 24.

Its really difficult ordering them online..I bought some size 26's which are a bit big..but hey.

Maybe that helps you, I dunno :P but it is a mission for everyone. I dont see why they can't use normal jeans sizes.

I am a size 10 and wear size 26 jods/breeches, a size 28 upwards would be way too big for me!!

I thought it was:

8=24
10=26
12=28

etc, etc
