OMG - Did anybody else read JW's letter in H&H? It's utterly priceless. Love it!

He should be the new SJ correspondent for the Daily Mail or something...!

My fav bit was offering the champagne to Olga to cheer her up, I LOL'd in the office and had to quickly pretend I was coughing and not reading H&H. ha ha.

Me too! He is still such an inspiration. I love it that he points out how it should be an honour to ride for your country - win or lose. I think sometimes our top riders lose sight of that.

Yes it was a little ' barbed' wasn't it

So sycophantic of H & H to give it letter of the week when he suggests it. I think ' Claire' has given him letter writing lessons following the tone of her last letter to H & H. A family trait perhaps.

Besides I don't think any Whitaker should complain about horse power, they have the cream of the crop, always have had and always will have.

Why shouldn't OW voice her opinion as a high profile owner.

He's saying he doesn't agree with OW's letter last week and that we should have had a JO to determine an NC place for next year. He says OW should be grateful to have horses to do NC and GP whereas some riders have one top horse.

Nothing he says in the letter is wrong but there's an ' undertone '
to it and I for one don't like these public spats, it does nothing credible for the sport imo.

Actually I think he made a very good point about having a jump off. I think it would have given a clear cut result to this fiasco and would have been the most sporting way of deciding.

I now blame Young Rider for 'making' me go out and buy H&H so I could read JW's letter

I love JW, he is my ultimate horseman, and a brilliant letter

I suppose the reason they didn't decide it by a jump-off in Dublin was that there was no provision for such a thing in the very badly drawn-up rules!

I don't really agree with that. John's had a lot of very average horses and made them half decent, from milk float ponies to Ryan's Son! Recently he's been struggling for top horses, with the obvious exception of the one that jumps him off

And why shouldn't he as a high profile rider?

Do agree with that... but then again I'm all for a bit of entertainment and I bet I'm not the only one

I have absolutely no idea what that means

What's OW and JO and NC and GP (Grand Prix)? I'm sorry I'm so thick and out of touch
