Well you knew it would be from me, anyway, we get commercials on telly showing a little girl mangled at the side of the road then eirily sliding back to the road and ok again, then it's motorists told that if we do 30mph and hit a child they have more chance of survival than if we hit them at 40mph, right so why is it 40mph on a single carriageway on a long stretch of road past a school that has lots of kids walking to school,(Pastures Hill Derby) and a hospital

and yet going into a large open road over a long bridge onto a large open ind estate with no hazards at all it's 30mph,

(Pride Park from Derby Center) then we have 50mph on dual carriagways with no pavements or hazards and yet a country lane with windy blind bends and concealed farm entrances is 60mph, this country is so fekkin backward.

I have been delivering in Derbyshire today around Derby,Belpher, Ashbourne,Matlock, noticed they had some strange speed limits. It is a nightmare to keep an eye on them to make sure I am safe and I am a safe and steady driver.Lovely countryside though

Agree 100%. The only speed limits that make sense are those ouside schools. Otherwise, police sit booking people on a straight piece of open road for safely breaking 40mph speed limit while my driving ponies are playing chicken with cars cutting across blind bends on country roads, but who are going way beneath the ridiculous legal speed limit of 60mph. Makes me furious.

Aha then you probably noticed the flitting from 50 to 40 to 50 to 30 limits continually changing almost like it's deliberately done to catch you out, kkkchinggggg £££££

We have the same sort of thing in North Somerset.

My OH picked up a fine travelling at 38 mph in a 40 mph area she'd travelled through hundreds of times before, only, it wasn't 40 mph any more, they moved the 30 mph signs out a hundred metres (or so) and then stuck a speed camera round the corner so that oncoming traffic couldn't see it. Oh yeah, proactive Policing at it's best

Yes I agree stupid changing speed limit and putting up camera's. I've been driving for years no accidents or fine's then Christmas day borrowed daughters car to fetch my mum and sister for Xmas day. 8 Days later a letter comes for daughter (who is always driving too fast). Showed envelope to OH and said this might slow her down. Gave her envelope she shouts to her BF I've got a speeding fine me and her dad said well we're always telling you, you drive too fast above the limit. Then she say's hold on a minute YOU had my car on Xmas day now you've got me a fine and points on my licence. Everyone laughed at this except me. So she had to tell them I was driving the car. I hate the flipping things and speed humps. Aaagggh
