any ideas? ocasonally when picking up hind leg there is a loud crack (really quite loud). the horse has not been right on this leg recently very mild lameness vet has seen just finished bute trial and still not quite right. has an old tendon injury on this leg but vet confedent it is not this, but unsure what it could be with out full work up but only just 1/5th lame. the cracking has only been hapening for about a month and its not all the time. the horse is 11 and been in very light work (1hr walk and trot on the flat) any ideas??

Could be anything! some horses, like us humans, just have clicky joints but it sounds to me like it needs further investigation and the only way to find this out is a full work up and the necessary scans / xrays / nerve blocks... there's not really a short cut I'm afraid...
