Joint ownership

If you had a contract that would be covered but I guess there is no contract.

I am not a solicitor but would imagine she could sell her half. That would be messy, as there would then be no contract to share the pony with a stranger. Who would ride when? Who would pay for shoes? Is there any restriction on work?

Is there any way you could buy her half? That would be the best way as the pony would be yours. Either that, or you would have to sell too, unless you can persuade her to make a contract that would pass on to the new part owner. I have known some half ownership scenarios that did work, but then the person who organised it really wanted to share and there was an agreement.

Are you a junior? What do your parents say?

A friend and I were talking about this just recently. Two people jointly owning one horse, I said i can't see how it can work.
When I was younger I was in a similar situation, My sister and I shared our first horse. She got to an age that she decided she wasn't interested anymore so I had to work my ar*e off and have sole ownership.
Is that a possibility?
