Hi,
I’m looking for a bit of advice after seeing lots of conflicting articles on the internet!

My old boy is around 28 and has recently been diagnosed with cushings this summer, he’s on half a tablet Prascend a day. I want to put him on a joint supplement as he’s starting to look a bit stiff now and again, he’s still in light work/mainly hacking.

I was think of putting him on NAF superflex senior, but I’ve seen online to stay away from supplements that contain glucosamine for horses with cushings and other articles that it’s absolutely fine ? does anyone have experience with this and could offer advice please or could suggest another supplement?

Over the years I’ve always used NAF supplements so I’m not too familiar with the others out there.

Many thanks ?

I don't like NAF supplements, anyway, after a bad experience with their multiple unnecessary ingredients but I would certainly avoid glucosamine for a Cushings horse. It is extremely sweet. I had a problem with it because of that with a non-Cushings horse!

I would try Boswellia, sometimes called Indian Frankincense. My farrier has recommended it in the past.

Following with interest as mine has just had a cushings test and has arthritis in one hock. Is Boswellia competition legal?

Try maxaflex, it’s green lipped mussel based and it’s really taken the ‘stiffness’ off my guy. Glucosamine isn’t the same as glucose. It’s fine to feed, mines ems laminitic and absolutely fine on it. I done a lot of research in to it before risking it.
