Joint supplement study: interesting results

I suspect a lot of people are happier to work their creaky old horses of they are giving them a supplement, and its the exercise that's working, not the supplement.

I have a friend on a trial, proper medical research, of exercise as a treatment for arthritis. It has been shown very clearly that it reduces pain in sufferers of arthritis.

I wont read that, but I work on action speaks louder than words. I have seen for myself the difference when mine are on my joint supplement and when I have run out they returned how they were before.
This has also been seen in new horses who were started on it and how the instructors noticed the difference even though they were not aware the horses had started on it. The horses actions were greatly improved in performance and simple things they found hard to do prior to having FJ.

For example, one old 25 year old has a step into her stable and she found it very hard to step down. She would shuffle till all four legs would reach near the edge and then slowly step down. She also found it hard to get up after a roll and would be on her knees like a sheep. Once she was started on FJ, all that was gone, it has nothing to do with exercise as she is retired, it was purely down to joint supplement. I have had her since 1993 and this is the best she has been since early 2005.

Not to worry, there will be another clinical trial which will contradict this particular study. You can judge from your own experience and as there should be no placebo effect in animals, and the supplement eases the symptoms, simply do what you feel is right to keep your horse comfortable.
