Hi all,

Can someone recommend a good joint supplement please? My 17year old NF in light work. With so many brands on the market I have no idea where to start

hi, i use aviform suppleaze gold on my oldie & he has really benefitted from it. he went on to it when he was still in work & there was a noticeable diffence in him within a few weeks. it is also very well priced for a joint supplement & the website always seems to have a 3for2 offer on!

sorry no experience with blue chip joint rlf

I use Day Son & Hewitt Feel Good 30 - joint & relief.

Fab for elderly arthritic horse - has all the usual joint support goodies in it, plus devils claw and boswellia - gives him the euqivalent comfort of a sachet of bute a day.

I get it online as no one seems to stock it - it's about £28/month.

Hi

I use premierflex from equine answer and it works pretty well for my 9yo mare ( stiff in hind legs due to back problems), it is cheaper than a lot of supplement i found. £35 for 1kg to last 4month, I am swapping to premierflex plus which contains devils claw extract (no bute). it contains high level of Glucosamine, Chondroitin Sulphate, MSM and Hyaluronic Acid plus other vitmain oil ect, you can view the full composition on:

http://www.equineanswers.co.uk/prodpage.asp?ProdID=4

they do free delivery as well and have excellent customer services.
However my friend got a 23yo arab with arthritis + cushings and this supplement did not seem to do him any good instead she uses cortaflex for him which works very well.
So I think it depends of your horse and why he/she need supplement for, personally I started with the cheap option first and see what seem to make a difference before I started buying more expensive stuff. I also give her horselyx motility lick (£12) which she loves and keep her occupied while I groom or muck out!!
hope this helps

Thanks everyone for replying and for the links - v helpful! I hoped there would be one that shone above all others and that would be a good place to start but I guess it will have to be a case of trial and error to see what works best for him. It Is good to know what works for others though and will look into the products suggested!

Thanks again all

my boy is on 3 teaspoons of turmeric a day with a measure of no bute premium, seems to be working well in this weather
