pony is on equiflex, but i dont think it does anything really!

Someone did a really good thread about this the other day. They analysed the contents of different supplements. I will try and remember who it was.:)

I have got mine on Botswelia Serrata (Frankinsense) from natural horse supplies on ebay. Which was recommended to me my an HHOer. I have to say that it's not doing a great deal but he's incredibly old and I'm not sure if much is going to work! Also most people agree that what works for one horse usually doesn't work for the next with joint supplements. My next stop is going to be supplease gold (google it for details) or something with green lipped mussel which is also supposed to be good. ...Or Naf Superflex.
 
I use suppleaze gold by aviform and the maintenance rate works out at a really good rate, especially as aviform often do 3 for the price of 2. I used to use superflex and aviform is cheaper and I have noticed an improvement in his flexibility despite him only needing it for maintenance.
 
Have a look at 'equine answers' - I use the premier flex plus, which has the same contents as cortaflex, with added devils claw, and is £44 for 2 mnths. Has really helped my hunter with mild spavin.
Delivery is great too...
 
I use Day Son & Hewitt Feel Good 30 range - the Joint & Relief one

It has all the joint supplement stuff - glucosamine etc - and also devil's claw and boswellia for pain relief

Keeps my arthritic hunter sound and comfortable :)

It costs about £28 for a month's supply - probably last longer with a smaller horse!

I get it from supplementsolutions.co.uk and they do free postage over £75 and give 20% off if you buy 4 - so it works out at £26 :)
 
for really tight budgets try root ginger - a piece about size of half your thumb chopped up. also try ground tumeric from tesco - fab for arthritis - a heaped teaspoon a day.

we arent on a major budget but currently spend around £16 for about 1 1/2 months to 2 months supplement

I use Naf Superflex for my boy but not sure it's doing anything to be honest. Have heard lots of people recommending turmeric. Bit of a numpty question, but can I feed turmeric as well as Naf Superflex? :confused:

Boswellia is more a natural bute substitute than instead of a Joint supplement. My experience of it is that it is not as strong as bute but takes the edge off. I wouldn't use it instead of bute on a more serious injury but when you're in a situation where vet is saying maybe try 1/2 a bute a day, it's gentler on the stomach and liver.
