joint supplements

the one I have found tha works well is equine america buteless - not a joint supllement as such but found it really helped with the stiffness my od boy had. Found cortaflex a bit of a no go - the only time I saw any difference was when he ate a whole tub by mistake opps!!!

I think you can food most joint supplements to mares in foals. Glucosamine, MSM, and Chondroitin are safe in this situation. Alternatives like no bute products are not as they usually contain devils claw which you should not feed to a pregnant mare. Liquids tend to be weaker than powders becasue they have to be diluted to make them a liquid, this means to get the same dose as a powder a liquid product may not last as long. I prefer powders because of this.

my boy is on equistro flexadin - it's the best one i've ever used - he's 15 and acting and moving like a 5 yr old again! Pricey but well well worth it. My dressage instructor cannot believe the difference. Would def recommend it. You can get it from your vets or an internet pharmacy (not tack shops) but you don't need a prescription.

have my thoroughbred 13 on Aviform..has been on it now for 6 months and there has been a really noticeable change in his flexibility at the hock and fetlock joints, his stifle is easier in movement.. i also have my border collie who is 10 started on the same product, with positive results. the manufacturer was very helpful in supplying me with information, support and dosage use for my dog..he shares the supplement which is Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplease GOLD. i did a fair bit of comparison work and found this contained the most of each, without the bulk padding of extra ingredients which you do not want yet pay for. hope helps.
