YO has suggested that putting a joint supplement in Jazzy's feed would help him.

The farrier has changed the shape of his feet (taken his toes right back) and put rolled toes and longer-heeled-shoes on him and his tripping is virtually non-existant. :)

I don't feel that he's particularly stiff but he's on alpha bute which might be masking things at the moment and a joint supplement can only help him, but has anyone got any particular recommendations?

I know of cortaflex as Woody was on it, but are there any others?

We use Supaflex and Cortaflex on the boy (not at the same time) both seem to do the job, but we also have him on Devils Claw (for his spavins). He seems to be coming back into work well.
Good luck finding which one works for you:)

I have mine on turmeric after reading a study done on it by Nottingham Trent University.
I had a word with my vet who also read the research paper and he agreed it was a good idea.

My horse has no visible (on xray) changes in her joints but she was displaying 'odd' lameness, so I was reluctant to shell out £££'s on Cosequin etc until we really needed it.

I use Riaflex and it's the only thing I have really noticed a difference from using. Really good stuff and if you order it on line it's there the next day.

We've got our shire x on superflex and dodson + horrell mobility supplement (basically herbs including devils claw) he's only been on it 2-3 weeks but I think he is moving better but may be in my head! Anyway it's not going to do him any harm and due to his size it would suprise me if he didn't have some joint pain.

I chose the superflex cause I can get it cheap through work and the mobilty one cause i've good success with their stuff before xx

Quirky - can I ask more about the tumeric? What are the benefits, where do you buy it? And how much do you feed?? Thanks xx

I have looked into a lot of supplements for my mare that has a hock spavin.I am currently feeding apple cider vinegar and it seems to be doing a good job of free-ing up the joints..It needs to be unpasteurised to give the maximum effect. If you do some research on the net you can find out some really good info on it,and for £12 for 5 litres it is cheap too.

As Rema says Apple Cider Vinegar is good. I feed it every day. My boy is 20 yrs old and nothing wrong with his joints that I know of but I am sure given his age that there are probably changes. Also good for so many things, look up on google.

I pay £1 per litre from cider producer, well cheap.

I use Apple Cider & have just spent a fortune on supplements only to be told to save my money. I have to be honest I have seen no noticeable difference in either horse. I think though if it works for your horse then that is great.
