Hey all.

Well my boy had his back done other day and its all fixed(pelvis was out) but back guy thought his hock looked a bit suspect so told me to put him.on a joint supplement. As i am a bit poor and glucosamine is expensive he suggested cod liver oil. However other people have said that horses cant actually digest it and have suggested things like turmeric and devils claw/root?
What do you you lot use and how much is it?

Try tumeric. I've been feeding this since my gelding finished his tubs of boswellia and cortaflex and tbh I don't notice a difference between the three products. His walk is lovely and free (he has a stifle issue). It's worth a try for the price! £2 for 400g.

Equine america do a glucosamine and MSM mix which is about 15.99 ( which i know is still alot of money , but cheaper than some ) I use it for my boy who has stifle probs also.

I'm currently using simple systems joint eclipse and find it good value for money, compared to other supps and I like the fact it's all natural, contains linseed and rosehips. Have noticed an improvement in the month they've been on it.

Mine is on the Topspec 10:10 which is not cheap (£32 a tub I think?) but is good afaik. We also feed them linseed oil which is good for them - I wouldn't feed my horse cod liver oil, I'd like to keep him vegetarian being a grass eater :)

I've also just started mine on rustox, ruta grav and arnica which is meant to help with joints and tendons/ligaments (he has a damaged ligament). Its £15 for 60 days worth which I think is good - sprayed onto their gums. It was recommended by my chiro, and I'm hoping it works, can't do any harm at least :)
