I really like pure boswellia. I can tell if she doesn't have her doseage. Its also kind to the tummy and a base for things like alphabute.
I also noticed a huge difference with apple cider vinegar but it has to contain the mother as that's the live active ingredient that does all the hard work. I tried it on myself as I suffered with what Im pretty sure is rheumatoid arthritis. I could move my fingers one day after poo picking and literally within the hour I pretty much had full movement again. The only reason I had to stop taking it was because it gave me a tummy ache. My hands are getting worse though so Im thinking of buying it in again and perhaps trying it with water and lemon. But yes it definitely works for humans and horses alike!
I've had my 18 yr old on Vetroflex and Vetrofen for about 5 months now. He had been having periodic steroid injections in his gammy (technical term!) right hock until a diagnosis of Cushings made extra steroids too risky.
I'm really impressed by the improvement in him. He is much more able to take weight on his quarters and whereas before his action meant he brought his right hind across under his belly so it repeatedly hit the left hind hoof, this has all but stopped.
This has been coupled with regular 'workmanlike' hacking or gentle schooling 6 days a week, but he's much more able to work in an outline. He's also now down to a Vetrofen every 48 hours - hopefully, as his joint strengthens, he can come off the painkiller.
