I have noticed my horse is a little stiff in his back legs at this time of year, he is 12, ca anyone recommend a good joint/mobility suppliment that does not cost the earth?

You could always try Blue Chip Dynamic, which contains Glucosamine and is formulated for joints and bones. It has the benefit of being multipurpose for good feet, shiny coat, digestion etc.

The homeopathic preperation of arnica, Ruta and rus tox

It is far better than any equine stuff and costs about £5.00 per month

Ty is on equiflex which is £17 for 2/3 months supply.

Put him on Cortiflex HA for a couple of months now that he's been diagnosed with spavin but will put him back on equiflex as a maintainer.....

im trying Gold Label Glucosamine on my 10yr old Welsh A ATM, ive had him on it a week now so hopefully start seeing improvements soon as its known to be very good, its only £21.

I have my horse on the newmarket joint supplelement following a serios injury this year. She was on superflex before but my vet bless her took the time to reasearch all the different supplement.

Many of the other brands are "watered down " with other ingredients and many of the other ingrediants are not absobed by the body so are a waste of money anyway.

The newmarket one is the purest one on the market to date and is no more than feeding others brands because you feed less.

Im sure without it my horses fetlock would not have recovered so well from all massive damage in there.

Of course my horse needs it but if its just a bit of stiffness you may be able to get away with something else.

I know what you mean, I was looking at a liquid devil's claw and the main ingredient was water, of course they called in Aqua possibly in the hope that some people might think it was something fancy!! Why not leave the water out and sell it in a smaller bottle?

I have used newmarket joint supplement on my 19yr tb arthritic mare for quite a while since the arthritis affected her...it was recommended as it is the purest form of glucosamine (as previously mentioned) ...it lasts for ages...of course it there is no cure but it helped me have 4 more years riding with her after hock treatment.
Of course, it really depends on the problem with each individual horse...as to what course of action you take...may be if she just suffered a bit of stiffness every now and again I would use something else...but then I would probably still feel if I'd tried this and it works so well I would use this.

<font color="peru">Ingredients to look out for are glucosamine, hyalouronic (sp?) acid, chondroitin and msm. Anti-oxidants (which can often be found in feeds) are also beneficial, as is oil in the diet, and you could also try cider vinegar or devil's claw (although the latter is more intended for pain relief rather than improving the joints). As c_a_c said, purity of ingredients is important.

Try Aviform Suppleaze Gold, their continous 3 for 2 offer means it's very cost effective, and yet I found it just as effective for my arthritic mare as the much pricier Cortaflex (not to mention numerous other brands tried over time). Their purity levels are good, I believe they're stated on the packaging or you could contact them directly and ask, and I can vouch for their service - both in person and through the internet.
