My 8yo rottie is really stiffening up in her front legs. She's been on cortaflex capsules a while now but not noticed much difference. Any recommendations? Bought online tonight a magnetic collar for her, hoping will have an effect (does on the neds!). She also has cod liver oil. Any advice would be great. Thanks a lot :)

I actually use the pedigree joint aid sticks daily for my large breed dog. About 4 years ago we noticed she was stiffening up and struggling to get out of bed etc, put her on these and shes been great ever since, if I miss a few days because I run out the difference is marked. Shes 12 ish now with no signs of slowing down, this was her today;

My rots are on Glycoflex 3 which I get from the vets. Have you considered arthritis. It is very common in rotties. Both mine have it to some degree, Sage was very lame in front. She is now on Trocoxil which is excellent. We now have our mad girlie back!!

Ahhh, she's lovely! Will pick some up and give them a go! I didn't even think of these to be honest. Are they very fattening? My girl piles on the weight if not careful which of course puts added strain on her joints! She's the large boned type, built like a male and weighs in at 11 stone!

Yes, I do think it's arthritis as she's suddenly got very stiff and is lame in her off fore. Had the vet out a couple of months ago to clip her nails (turns into the devil!) and wasn't half as bad as she's become! The problem I'v got is my other rottie is 3yrs and full of life and pounces on her playing! He's a tall chap, not quite bulked up yet so very agile and so flips over her etc! She definitely needs something strong, probably with pain relief now also. Although it doesn't stop her helping me muck out in the mornings!

I wouldnt think so, they arent much (size wise) and are one a day, I havnt noticed any weight gain from them. I wouldnt normally crow about a pedigree product and admit to being rather peed off with OH turning up with a 2 month supply for her when she was getting stiff, however, I fed them 'cos he bought them, they worked very well and I wouldnt take her off them now, she shows no signs of stiffness at all when on them. I tried glucosamine tablets but they didnt have the same effect.

I will have a look out for them tomorrow! Thankyou! She's getting quite bad so I'm not sure if she'll need something on prescription but will definitely get some and see how we get on! How long did it take before you saw a difference?

From memory about 3 weeks she was pretty much 'normal'. Yes you are right, possibley she may need something prescribed ie pain killers/anti inflams, but given that these definately make a difference perhaps worth considering alongside prescribed meds if they are needed, they should help stove off stiffness cropping up elsewhere if nothing else. Good luck, keep us posted.

I have a retriever who was a bit stiff. I won a free sample of FULLOLIFE joint suppliment & he turned into a new dog!! Bought a load off their website & he's still running round like a puppy!xx
