i have a new horse who is in the stable quite a lot and more as it gets hotter as he burns in the sun so he will have to be in and when he is out he is in a field thats shaded but its the other side of the yard with only enough room for 1 horse he is still young and loves playing with brooms and buckets and especially water so i was going to get him a JOLLY BALL the only problem is at the moment he is being re-schooled and his manners are a bit part of the issue as he is a bit of a baby (nibbles/rope chewing/coat zippers) the last thing i want is to make this worse as he is really doing well and its getting better every day i even took away his lick it as i think this wasn't helping
any advice would help
THANK YOU

My youngster is/was the same, very mouthy, chews everything. He is really improving.

I have a jolly ball and a salt lick for him. He loves chewing the jolly ball! Additionally I plait chunks of hay into a tight plait and he LOVES them, really occupies him. Anything that he gets fed, whether it's a treat by hand, hay, or his feed, he has to walk three steps backwards away from me before he gets it. He doesn't get anything within my personal space.

The result is positive, he has stopped mugging people for treats, he still has a look if you have anything but if you don't he leaves you alone.

We bought one. Every one of our five was completely disinterested in it. Daughters collie loves it though....

The plaited hay is a brilliant idea. Ours also step back before they get anything, in fact one is so enthusiastic in her stepping back she usually takes herself out of range of what is being offered and then stands looking puzzled! Bimbo! Depending on what bedding you use a treat ball might be better, useless in a straw bed as the treats get buried and then they dig up the bed to find them, but fine on shavings.

Jolly ball doesn't dispense treats, it's just a mini space hopper for playful horses to throw round/chew. Try a treat ball too, keeps mine quiet for a bit. Decahedrons are good for putting in veg/fruit.

My sister got 2.... the dog loves them! Expensive dog toys though! ha ha :D The horses ignore them.
I got a treat ball for mine when he was in quarantine, he loved it and it turns out he'd be good at football, there were tracks all through the straw where he'd been pushing it around and one morning I found it in the water bucket so he'd obviously given it a fair kick! :D
