had a crashing fall at Aston yesterday. Luckily he is alive, but badly hurt. Wishing him a swift recovery and thanking Him up there that it was not worse.

My friend was stopped on the course for an hour after his fall,i think that his horse is OK, and what i understand he got ; 5 Broken ribs and a fractured pelvis and something else that i can't remember, his groom said that he is more likely out for the rest of this season..so yes healing vibes for poor Jonathan

Get Well Soon Jonathan xx

I am guessing this is the same Jonathan that used to teach me in pony club all those years ago. My naughty pony was his favourite. At least he is still alive, how awful for him and I hope he is back on his feet soon. Get well soon Jonathan.

He teaches my boss. I have heard this morning that he has broken his pelvis and has broken ribs and punctured lung/s (I think)

He was thrown clear from the horse though thankfully. It was a pretty horrific fall as I have heard. The horse came down one way and he went the other.

Wishing him a speedy recovery, he has really helped Barb and Bondi this season.

Jonathan has just been reminded how painful a bad fall can be. At Aston-le-Walls on Thursday 14 May, Westside performed a lovely dressage for a score of 30 and was leading his section. One fence down show jumping but an otherwise lovely round, which was unfortunately followed by only half a clear round in the cross-country. A rider error at fence 12 sent both horse and jockey crashing to the ground.

As a result of this unfortunate crash, Jonathan is presently residing in Coventry Hospital with 3 cracked ribs, a collapsed lung and a fractured pelvis and shoulder. Sounds horrific but none of the injuries are too serious; the biggest risk is that he could become addicted to the morphine!

So, directly from the horse's mouth: "Thank you to all my well-wishers and apologies that I may not be able to reply to messages immediately due to poor mobile signal. A BIG thank you to everyone at Aston-le-Walls – the organisers, medical staff and fence judges for their prompt and professional attendance. Westside is doing fine and JC will ride again!"
