Many of we country types will be well aware of the Joules country clothing brand.

Sadly the firm is going into administration.

Retailer Joules nears collapse risking 1,600 jobs https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63620832

While I'm not a fan of most of their clothing, which is too fussy for me, I must confess to having a secret penchant for their Badminton and Burghley logo'd polo shirts. I'm afraid that I bought them, if new, at much less than full retail price off eBay or second hand.

I hope that at least some of the business can be saved. Next have had talks with them, but that came to nothing.

Very worrying times for their 1600 employees.

That is sad. I don’t have lots of their stuff but it seemed like a quality brand with some nice stuff. Surprised they’ve gone bust as they seemed pretty popular especially at all the horse events I attend, but times are getting tough with covid, brexit and supply chain issues.

Thought I got a good deal on a dressing gown at lunchtime 50% from local tack shop, didn't realise it was due to this ! thinking of the 1600 staff

It won't have been - their stuff is always discounted somewhere!

Posted on the thread in the Club House, but it sadly doesn't surprise me.

My husband lives in joules polo and rugby shirts. He won’t know what to wear now. There are so many people losing their jobs at the moment. I really feel for them. My employer is on the third round of redundancies this year and I fear the situation is only going to get worse.

I think this may of been coming for some time, locally there are huge Joules seconds sales (not run directly by Joules) and at many equestrian events. Which led to me never buying in the shops.

Most of their clothing is too twill and country yummy mummy for me - dare I say I’m a little young for lots of their stuff. But I liked some of the staples, but why buy a field coat for £145 when I could picked it up for £35 at a seconds sale? Who cares if it’s two seasons old as their clothing is fairly timeless…

Well I’m wearing joules now and an awful lot of my wardrobe is joules , What am I going to wear if joules goes down . What worrying times for their employees . Very sad and worrying news.

They made a good point on the radio about it earlier - it’s not expensive/posh enough for the very well off but it’s above average high street prices so becoming too expensive as people make cut backs.
Could be argued for them to go into administration that it’s been going on longer than the more recent economic downturn but could well be a contributor.
I was quite hoping I might pick up a gilet bargain in Black Friday and/or closing down sale but alas, no bargain to be had.
Rotten news for their staff, especially at this time of year :(

Website won’t load :(

nvm it was my phones fault. Looking at the Black Friday deals, tbf it’s still all very pricey. £50 for a jumper ?
