An incredible couple of ladies from New Mexico, Karen and her daugher Olivia, plus their three horses, stayed with us last night in Surrey. They're on a long trip from Milan (yes, Italy) to the Uffington White Horse. Oh, and they're dressed as cowgirls (they are cowgirls!). Why? To raise awareness of the plight of the horse worldwide.
Two of their horses were rescued from the slaughterhouse in Milan. The third was swapped in Europe - a young girl fell in love with the rescue horse and would be a perfect home for him, so they swapped him for a 4yo with a bucking habit. Two of the horses are already sold. The third is looking for a home. Karen and Olivia want to show people that these horses do actually have a value, a purpose.
They really are an inspiring pair and I'd urge everyone to have a look at their Facebook page or their blog, and follow their journey.
