I have just got in (12 midnight) after a 10 hour, yes 10 HOUR :eek:journey home - it usually takes 35 minutes. I am lost for words ... off to bed ... :(

Oh no poor you! I was lucky, left at 5pm, no trains from victoria so went to charing x and stroke of luck managed to get on a train to a station ten miles from home and OH came and picked me up, got home at 9.45 though. Staying at home today!!

Thanks guys! Yes ... Kent and apparently there are no gritters in the whole of the county! At least we didn't see any until 11pm! I left school at 2.00pm and walked to meet OH at the main road. Mainly we were sitting on the A20, not moving. Then we changed direction to come overland and met abandoned cars and crashes a-go-go. We were ok - OH very proud of his winter tyres! We sailed past 4x4s sliding off the edge of the hill

But when we got closer to home (Edenbridge on the borders of Kent, Surrey & E Sussex - steep hills) they had closed the roads due to accidents. Police were there at one place (having crashed their car) making a bit of pig's ear of it (pardon the pun). 4x4s were sailing all over and police declared it unsafe to pass, but brave hubby thought he'd give it a go (with his marvelous Vredestein Wintrac Extreme tyres - no, he's not on commission, but should be!:D), so we trundled the last 2 miles up hill and down dale with nay bother. We even gave the bobbies a lift back to the station. Walked in the door at 11.50pm!

What an absolute nightmare. You must have never been quite so relieved to see your home, and your bed, as you were this morning!
