Anyone made this trip and what does it entail?
The latest chapter in the sarcoid drama that started last year is that one small sarcoid treated with Liverpool crean has now grown to the size of a golf ball and is bleeding. Needless to say I am furious that I have been ignored until now having sent a photo diary of its 'progression' to the state it is in now.
I'm too thick to post pictures otherwise I would attach it for every one to see.

Hopefully this is the offending excrescence.

I am not an expert by any stretch but one of my mum's liveries used the Liverpool Cream on her horse who had horrific (and that is no exaggeration) sarcoids all over her neck, they appeared to aggravate the site and the resultant outburst was repulsive to say the least, I would not use Liverpool cream but would instead choose a non-aggressive treatment such as thuja or Global Herbs sarc x which we have used with pleasing results.
I hope that Prof Knottenbelt looks after your horse and gets him/her sorted out, the staff there are excellent.

You must have been really unlucky with the cream it worked superbly for mine. Got to ask the obvious did your vet apply it correctly. But good luck anyway.

How long does it take after treatment with the liverpool cream for the Sarcoid to go? My horse just had his course of it and waiting for this thing to drop off as its STUBBORN!!!!!

My boy had one grow on his eye lid,
It was refereed to Liverpool and we waited so long for a reply and decision on treatment that

It got so big my local vets had to intervened and he had to have two operations.
Removing a golf ball sized lump then another half golf ball sized lump.
He eventually started BCJ injections it cleared up so quickly!
Yes it did ulcerated and look gooey and nasty but it soon fell off.

His eye is now almost back to normal (he will be left with slight scar tissue)
Now we are waiting a few weeks to see if it starts to grow, continues to shrink or stays the same.

its looking so good i hope i hope he will be back to normal soon.

my lovely boy starts treatment end of month for liverpool cream, he has grew a new one pretty quick simialar to pic but not as big it came out of nowere last six weeks the latter one looks awful

My mare (now deceased) had one just like that OP, on the side of her boobies and it went from a little lump to a tangerine sized one in a week. The skin split exactly like in your picture. My vet at the time (this was about 15 years ago) squeezed it very gently and the whole lot plopped into his hand. It left a massive hole which we flushed out with weak hibby and left it to heal. It healed perfectly and never returned.

May be worth giving it a gentle prod.....

I have just had the exact size sarcoid in my warmbloods groin and it has now popped out as Perissa. I used Thuja tablets and within 3 weeks the huge sarcoid starting changing and bleeding. It got quite infected with flies (about a month ago now so warm weather) so had the vet in. She sedated him and then put her hand "into" the pocket and this grotesque lump fell into her hand the size of a cricket ball!. After weeks of flushing out with hibisrcub, wound powder etc it has now shrivelled to a tiny scar. My vet wants to use Liverpool cream on the smaller ones left but Im not keen, especially after all the costs and hassle for the horse the majority of them gorw back.....

Sabab172 and Perissa, very interesting as the thing has changed again (will put photos on later) and the orb almost looks as if it's coming away.
Anyway got my referal and it's for Tuesday but they wanted £750 up front so I just laughed hysterically and said no thanks.

Will get new photos and post tomorrow.

I think this is the only sane reaction! I am looking forward to the pics and really, really hoping yours is a 'popper', too. I'd never heard of them , but a friend's horse had one that did exactly this. Just popped out...

Please be aware that it is a teaching hospital and as such you will be surrounded by students as well as the vet. When I took my WB who was suffering from Wobblers there for a definite diagnosis I was totally unprepared for the crowd of students milling around especially when they were all crammed in the put down box whilst he was put to sleep. I found it very intimidating, but can understand how they were there to learn.

I can't really remember much of the journey to be honest - Dad and I drove their, Dad drove, I was feeling very worried and sick. We hired a horsebox firm to transport my horse in a little horsebox as he was very ataxic and I was concerned he could go down in the trailer with me towing him, and at least if he went down in the box he would have more room. The firm we hired was a nightmare, and went up the kerb twice before we even got on the motorway and then proceeded to drive like the clappers due to the fact they had arrived an hour later than they said they would arrive to collect him. When we got there we expected to be waiting about 40 mins for them but they arrived within about ten minutes - which showed the stupid speeds they must have been driving on the motorway. Rommy was then unloaded without the chifney which the groom was insistent he didn't need. In his ataxic state he tried to run off the ramp, the groom hauled on the end of the rope and he fell onto the concrete desperately struggling to rise to his feet. He ended up covered in cuts and very shaken and dripping in sweat. They charged me £150 for the priviledge of the one way journey - that was from Solihull to Liverpool. I was disgusted with them and their lack of professionalism.

Thank you applecart14, your description has put me off even more. Plus the whole referal was rushed through without me being involved in the consultation and my vet practice nurse phoning me and virtually ordering me to get the horse on the lorry and just cough up and be grateful.
I'm sorry you had such rough treatment, I'm going with the Sarc-Ex for the moment.

Doncella I would seriously not go to Liverpool. Your sarcoid looks a replica to my warmbloods which "popped out" 5 weeks ago and it is in the exact same spot. It does go quite yucky before it came away and as I said before it did become infected as 5 weeks ago it was hot and fliey. (I didnt take a pic but I have one at its largest before it started turning and I can take one of it now - you wouldnt have believed it was there!) It did leave a large gaping hole which was quite alarming but with syringing hibiscrub into it and then using black veterinary wound powder it has cleared up a treat. My gelding did have some swelling in his sheath as well when the sarcoid came away but that calmed down after a week or so. I am VERY reluctant to use Liverpool Cream. The sarcoid that have came away on their own accord have healed brilliantly, the ones that were banded are still red and raw 5 weeks later.....my vet wants to apply Liverpool cream to these to eradicate sarcoid cells. Ive done so much research on this and the majority of Liverpool Creamed sarcoids do come back. I would be very interested to see a recent photo x

Thanks for this, I shall take a pic tomorrow and post it asap.

Any news / update?

I posted on sarcoid new pic basically it is less bloody and messy after 4 weeks of Sarc-Ex.
I haven't been to Liverpool but my vet rang and got OH and *******ed him for me not going, so shan't go now.
No honestly, I will not go, logistics and money aside I want to give the Sarc-Ex a chance and the people at Global Herbs know what the thing looks like and I am keeping a photo diary of the proceedings so watch this space.
