Jousting...really random!!

Really random question but has anyone on here tried jousting (or had a training session or anything for it)?

OR

Has anyone had a chance to watch jousting?

I know a couple of people who do jousting - I wouldn't fancy it myself! They fall off and are injured loads - but they do really enjoy it (I don't know any girls who do it though - only men!)

Not tried it but really want to have a go.
I did find a company that did training days on their horses but just cant justify the cost for a one off at the moment

yes I used to work for Gerard Naprous Devil's Horsemen part time!
Excellent fun but you need good upper body strength!

I used to do this years ago, so did 'Corrigan' but we weren't the ones that fell off the stunt riders would fall off, but you had to get your timings right.

My blacksmith does this, he plays the black knight!! he goes all over even to Canada, it sounds great fun except when he rings me to say he cant shoe my horse because he broke his leg jousting!!

It sounds like amazing fun! I don't mind getting hurt a bit for the fun tho!!

Someone posted some pictures of knights/jousters at a show/fayre thingy a while ago in PG...don't remember who it was....hope they read this and share the picturse again!

With Gerard it was all choreographed brilliantly to minimse risk. I was never injured more than a couple of knocks and bruises. If you did get injured, it was usually your fault! lol!

My farrier does it too, your farrier must be in the same 'gang' as mine. Whenever they are away jousting you can never get hold of a decent farrier if you need tooecause they all go away together!

I did a jousting day a few years ago in Warwickshire, HERE . It was my re-introduction to the saddle after about 10 years off! It was brilliant, really good fun, I highly recommend it
