Hi I am looking for JRT or Patterdale terrier breeders or litters. We lost our JRT after 16 1/2 years. Will to travel 100 miles from SN7. Ideally Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire or Hampshire ?

Many thanks in advance

Keep an eye in the free ads. There was a beautiful litter of Pats near Wolverhampton around Feb time. There were clear and good pics of mum and the puppies. I think they were selling for £500. They were on Preloved, bumped a couple of times and then put on Freeads as well when they all (to my relief as I was so sorely tempted!) were sold. So, Preloved, Gumtree, Freeads, Pets4homes.

Sadly it doesn't look as though there will be any terrier/lurcher shows for a while but if there are any in your vicinity they are worth a visit as the people showing there generally breed as well.

There is Terrier Rescue down Surrey way who have many Jrts, Pats, Lakies for adoption.

Anything terrier like is being snapped up within hours at the moment though on these sites and I don't know what you are intending to pay but the breeders are advertising them for upwards of £1,000 in many cases, and I saw a litter on one of the above sites for £2,500!! because they were a rare colour? and if you can make it up North and back in a day there are many more terrier litters at far less money but still way more than pre Covid prices.

Shame you aren't closer to Scotland as the keepers on the Estates around me seem to always have patterdale, JRT or crosses of the two on the ground.

I no, its becoming so hard to get one from a normal person rather than someone who is wanting to charge over £1000 ? people who know these breeds know they are priced between 300-500

I got our little one from a registered breeder from Champdogs. She is lovely but not cheap at £900. She wasfully vaccinated chipped registered with KC (not that that bothered me) and we met mum dad and granny. She was 4 months old in January when we got her.

Hi I am also looking for a patterdale dog. Im in Scotland. If you hear of any please let me know. Thanks

I will ask around, although it seems from the conversations I have had this morning with keepering friends that even working pups are being snapped up like hot cakes and are thin on the ground.

I've always felt Patts shouldn't be pets. Especially not pets for some clueless furlough person who wants a toy for a few months.
And yes we have owned about 6 of them, all thrown out of pet homes.

Totally agree. My sister considered a Patterdale before getting Border Terriers. I know for definite she would not have coped with their desire to hunt and kill everything in their path.

She is absolutely gorgeous!! :) I kind of feel a bit nostalgic for the days you could get a brilliant dog like this more easily. Probably in the local pub...

I would not have a patterdale. I like looking at other peoples but all the ones I've known have been very full on. Ruby my pup is enough for me and I'm used to terriers :-). I think if I'd never had one then I would have been tempted to give up on her. She is a true terrier - but we are getting there slowly. She is a pleasure most of the time now and I wish I could have found her like I found my first one - a few quid from the nontravelling travellers down the road - but they just don't seem to be around here any more. I travelled from Surrey to the Norfolk border to find her.

Couldn't agree more!? I've owned JRT and Patterdale for 18 years now, their will be so many in rehoming centres come a couple e of months. Months makes me so cross

I stumbled across this site (through concerns someone had about a cocker spaniel bitch for sale) and saw this ad. I've never seen this site before though so can't comment on its authenticity and would definitely advise caution when buying from such a site.

Yea I've looked on there previously, pretty sure it's where alot of travellers try and shift dogs....
