Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend Plans

In hand showing today which was a first for both of us, mostly just fun low key classes. Initially, he was excited and struggling to settle and stand still in the line up, but did some quite nice stuff at the end and showed off his flashy trot! I'm definitely knackered though as I have to run fast to keep up with him.

The last time I took a pony in a showing class I was primary school age, so pleased we could have a successful day out! And I think it was educational for him in that he improved as the day went on, and had to stand and settle at the trailer, rather than it being a case of "arrive, get on, off we go".

Anyway, mega chuffed with my pony and to have some rosettes (full disclosure, the 2nd place was out of 2, though).

None horsey weekend really. Had a little party for my best friends sons 5th birthday. We’re all still feeling shellshocked at the loss of our grandad, but it was nice to all be together and watch the little ‘uns have fun.

I've started "mental health walks" with the big lad. We are gradually building up with the aim of walking our old hacking routes. I wanted to introduce some hill work into his hernia healing exercise regime, and there are some nice gentle ones near the yard. He's enjoying nosying at the world.

I did an online dressage test with the baby horse I'm borrowing. Just a wee intro. We were 4th with 68.20% which I was delighted with. We made silly baby mistakes (such as halting during one of the walk half 10m circles because he felt he had walked long enough, and the centre line being more of a centre squiggle) so the rest of it must have been ok to make up for the obvious things ? The class was won on 69%.

Won the top agility class at states with my big dog, her 3rd year running. She's such a good girl.

Back from a busy weekend.
Roasting hot both days, good few walking around very pink!!

1st test N39, horrible test. Not symmetrical, confuses me. Went wrong at start, then got it together, until almost at the end, some eejit decided it was prime time to empty the portaloos! Lots of door banging, sucking of poop, and noise. Poor pony took off! Cue a 3 and a four!!
Still managed to come 2nd ?‍.
Elem 43, happily bobbing along, forgot the way again!! What a neep. 6th

N24 finally got a whole one in without going wrong. 5th.

Great weekend with pals, good weather and lots of gin.

Lovely to see some good outings over the long weekend! I feel like I need a few more days off after a busy weekend of socialising as well as dressage ?

On the latter, I couldn’t resist buying some pics - he’s just too photogenic! There are a couple more in the 5/6yo thread. Please excuse the slightly defensive seat, he was a tad worried!

Horses are so good for the soul.
Back on board Mill this evening for a hack. Just a chilled walk around the farm ride but she was such an angel and seemed to recognise that I’m a bit out of sorts.

Blaaaaah posting in here because I need to rant / moan.
Two weeks today since the big guy last saw vet and he’s still not right - she’s booking him in for MRI and based on how he is, and how he has responded to nerve blocks etc - is concerned about the soft tissues in his feet - I’m struggling to not be devastated / totally catastrophize. ?

Ahhh I maybe didn’t update due to head frazzlement- can’t flippin remember now lol! Yeah so the lowest down block didn’t really do anything - if nothing else he was actually a wee bit worse - then second one he was tons better.
Flippin horses eh.. stood in his stable now and could just cry looking at him!
Hopefully will get down to vet hosp later this week or early next. It’s a bit of a trek as down in the Republic but at least it’s a nice straight road I suppose ?

Fingers crossed the MRI shows something totally fixable.

A friend had a horse who was 'off' for almost a year, it was a weird abscess, spread right under the sole but so deep it never came out until the whole sole shed. Was then sound! Fingers and toes crossed that yours is something equally transient.

So initially she felt it was around fetlock initially based on what she could see and a bit of swelling etc, but given we are now quite a few weeks in to this whole saga she thinks next logical step is MRI - reasoning behind that is that he is basically exactly the same as at the start (and that in itself makes me feel absolutely awful) and how he has reacted to the nerve blocks the last time etc. Its a bit of a nightmare tbh, I’ve left OH dealing with the comms because he’s a bit more assertive than I am and we are desperate for answers.

Eeek Sheep I just can't understand why she hasn't bunged a scanner on the area as a first port of call? Sorry if I'm missing something.

But plenty of soft tissue structures around and below the fetlock area that it could be....
