Apparently 70 aircraft flying past for the Jubilee on Thursday. Any one got any information about timing and routes please?
Technically only London. Because of the different flying speeds they disperse very quicklyOh, so only England get a fly past

I'm hoping that we might get something old and interesting overhead here from aircraft en route to or from the flypast. We're well away from London, but are on a regular flight path, so we might get lucky.Technically only London. Because of the different flying speeds they disperse very quickly
It's only a tiny part of England, it's not about excluding Wales, Scotland or N. Ireland. I assume it's a logistical issue for it not to be more widespread. I'm not going to get bent out of shape because it doesn't fly over Cornwall, Merseyside or Newcastle.

Wow how interesting. Thanks for sharing SELIts purely logistical. Many decades ago my dad organised the Queen's birthday flypast (he's retired air force) and with so many planes needing to be funnelled into London to follow the Thames - all doing different speeds - its a flight controllers nightmare. No way can you have fast jets matching the speed of a spitfire because they'd stall and crash. The formation part is actually very short by necessity. Plus Heathrow gets grounded for that period.
But you can see parts of the fly past on the way in and on dispersal and it makes an 80 year old man very happy if they buzz over Buckinghamshire!!
