Went to my local riding club yesterday. I have to remember the goal was to show my boy in hand (he does well at that) and then sit on him for a tack and turn out class. He's only a baby and I've had some severe confidence knocks with other horses so even walking round in a tack and turnout class with other horses was a big deal but I want us to keep progressing and decided it was the next step.
Problem was riding club very disorganised and as they had no entries for class before tack and turn out so ended up starting while i was still showing in hand. Basically judge in in hand excused me - we whipped his saddle on, got attcked by a breaking free horse outside the arena and rushed in. My tack was immaculate - my horse immaculate. Judge agreed but put me at 7th cos as I'd had to wear my jodpur boot for in hand to run in so u could see my jods ruffed up at the bottom. They are ruffed up because basically they don't so womens sizes for child sized people! Also I was a sweat as it was a hot day and I'd just been running round a field with the pony rather then stepping straight out of some deep freeze as the other competitors.
I'm glad I did it - onwards and upwards and all that but I had no idea that would be quite so particular. I still didn't come last tho and came 2nd in the in hand.
