Havin my niece tomorrow she is 3 n only got told 10 minutes I'm lookin after her tomorow. Don't hav a clue how Im gna entertain her n sort the horses out. Top it off am crippled :(

My toddler has endless enterainment from a water bucket and plastic shovel 'helping'. Get the horses out of the way (turned out) while your niece is supervised then she'll love to help you

Just let her play ponies all day. Groom, ride, take for walks holding the leadrope, anything involving a hosepipe. Show her how to clean tack, let her decorate a horse with ribbons in its mane & tail. And if your field gateway is a bog at the moment, just tell her to stay clean & she'll spend the day playing in the mud getting filthy.

So far the plan is spare change of clothes wrap her up n let her wallow in mud, then when bored have a lead round on mav n help me groom, she is hyper all the time haha :)

Mines 7 & still plays happily in mud all day. Even if its like today, when she had to smash the ice on a puddle to find the mud. For lunch, take a picnic. Mine always loved sitting on hay bales, a bench, anything. If she's got a fave doll/cuddly toy get her to bring that for the picnic & let it ride on a pony too.

When I take my two year old to the yard with me he is happy with water buckets and his toy watering can, his bucket and spade so he can play in the sand school, his toy wheelbarrow so he can help me, and above all, his ride on tractor!

For lunch make a picnic and have it in the hay for extra funsies :D

TandD- brilliant idea!!

Next time I go shopping will have to take some of H's instant calmer (don't want to be waiting for it to kick in while they continue to scream the place down!)

Obv won't be doing this as don't have kids and can't go round doping other peoples much as I would sometimes like to :D

its a shame isnt it! screaming/shouting/running small children are one of the worst things ever. how people can let their offspring behave like this is...esp around horses!!!!!.........horrifing....

a good stare normally shuts them up for a bit :)

if you havnt got any calmer...how about a 'drink' :) ???? helps them dose off for a nice nap ;)

My 3 year old entertains himself by using his ride on tractor to help me muck out, and my 5 year old "helps" by doing exactly as she pleases

Give the kid a job - fill up water bucket, or haynets if you use them, can hand over a shovel and have them help with putting muck into wheelbarrow, etc.

Good luck! :D

So pack some jack Daniels, calpol n ear plugs haha ;) nothin worse than screamin n cryin kids at pubs

theres your picnic!!!!! ^^^^

which arms in plaster???? and is your hand plastered to? may find it difficult to hold that pint glass.......

See the instant calmer I use is in a syringe so easy to operate single handedly ;)

And yes TandD I agree hate when parents just stand there while their brat deafens me before nearly running me over with the trolley they ate allowing it to run round pushing!

Left hand is in plaster n yeah it is :( haha am

Am sure she wil be fine Lee ;)

It's fine I will get her to open the bottles with her teeth they fall out anyway ;) haha
