My horse is the equine hospital and coming home tomorrow. She went in as digestive system shut down (still unknown why) but kick started again. Whilst getting IV fluids she developed a fever which turned out to be from infection at the catheter site which has resulted in the jugular vein being completely gone now. She's on antibiotics and painkillers but she can't flex her neck down to graze etc so water buckets etc having to be elevated off the floor. Did anyone else's horse get this, did the neck manage to flex again after a while to graze and did the vein ever correct itself?
