The BE results stuff is really bloody brilliant!

Last night, when I couldn't sleep I thought I'd do a bit of digging to see if I could find a horse I was involved in when I was little.

In the early 90s I spent every weekend and holiday at a yard in Cumbria with a lady called Daphne Lane. She brought on youngsters, one of which was a liver chestnut mare called Gizmo. In 1993 the head girl evented Giz twice at Jervaulx and Eglington.

(Incidentally it's interesting to see she did 1 PN and went straight to N!)

Anyway. The next year Giz was sold to Julie Robinson (now Lawson) and I followed her career a little, but then lost touch.

Looking last night the mare went Advanced and ** and has 78 points! She's also had 2 foals which are also now competing with Julie!

I've got a picture of me on Giz from all those many years ago and I'd loved to kind of chat to Julie about her and see if she's still alive (though was born in 1988 so a long shot I feel), but feel a bit

about it. Do you think it would be ok to maybe drop Julie a little letter or something?

I would. I sold a much loved pony to Louise Lyons many years ago that she went on to do very well on. I had not spoken to Louise for many years (in fact since I sold the pony to her about 15 years earlier!) but she was so friendly and filled me in on the pony's wonderful achievements and even offered to send some photographs. Louise had kept the pony until she was well into her 20's when she was put to sleep. Unfortunately I just missed out on seeing her alive but it was lovely to hear that she had had such a wonderful life!

Absolutely, she is very friendly. Try to get her email & send her a message. Not sure I am going to an event that she is at in the very near future(otherwise I would have asked for an email address for you) but she is very approachable & I am sure she wouldnt mind being asked.

Well, a happy ending of sorts!

I have had a reply from Julie! Gizmo sadly passed away after her second foal, but both offspring are doing well and are well lved in the family.

She also said to go and say hello if I see her at an event.

I'm so pleased!
