Jump at Hickstead

I would like to compete my grade C Bsja at Hickstead this year at the June meet . Does anyone know the cost involved outside of the class entry fees.. Ie. is there a day membership etc?? I know it will prob incur extra costs but would love to jump there!! Thanks :)

The website gives membership fees for spectators but no info costs for competitors

If you go on their website it details it all. There is a weekly membership, which is about 50quid, then entry fees are prob a few quid extra in compared to normal shows. It is a good show to be at, but the outside rings aren't all that tbh!
 
I jumped for the first time at the All England Championships last September. One of the outside rings is a bit rubbish but I loved jumping in all the others. It is expensive but at least price money is a little better than at other shows if you manage to get placed (though it is very competitive). Definitely worth doing for the experience.
 
Think show membership was £30 for the rider and £30 for the owner, if you are both I assume you only pay the one (I don't own the horse I was riding but the owner was already a member so I think I just paid £30 for myself.)

click on last year’s schedule it will give you details of how much the classes where, stabling costs, members costs etc.
As a rough idea its £60 a show to become a member of Hickstead, £90 for all of them. Stabling at the Derby show is for a week you can’t do it daily and it’s about £125, extras on top as well. Entry fees are roughly the same as a normal show other than the Sept show where it’s more (I guess as they all qualify for the main ring) erm you have to include bedding, hay etc on top so it’s not a cheap week! I had planned to go last year but horse broke, not so sure I will this year as its expensive but its on my bucket list so to speak.

That's only at the September Show where the classes are mainly opens and first prize is usually £100 even in the 1m classes.

At the Derby and RIHS Shows the entries are cheaper....more like £15 per class but the prize money is only £50 in the 1m for example.

There are always huge entries in the smaller open classes and the amateur classes and competition is fierce. If you travel each day it can be a real pain trying to guage when to arrive to walk the course without then waiting around for 5 or 6 hours to jump. If you jump multiple days try and put your number down the day before.

It's a good experience though albeit an expensive one :-)
