OK I don't normally watch Horse and Country as I find some of it well lets say a little boring. Anyway nothing else on so put it on as I had not heard of Jump Cross. I wish when I had my other horse they had done this as I don't like solid fences.

Does anyone else do this and at what level?

It looks great dosnt it

Sadly it is my horse that dislikes solid fences, lol and i would have loved to do this, but looked at the venues and they are unrealistic for me

...Miles away!

I'm in Notts just haven't got a fully mobile horse anymore.

Very few places actually do it, if they could make it nationwide it would be a fab idea.
I agree about H&C channel, once you've seen it once you really don't need to see it a further 6 or so times!

Not when you are driving a car
smile.gif
,with a trailer on the back dont think i could cope with 2 hr drive, lol
smile.gif
,i would be a wreck especially if the m1 has to be involved
crazy.gif
,i hate that motorway, cant even drive a car down without cacking my pants
blush.gif
,will have a look into it,but i tend to stay local, may venture further afield when my towing confidence grows

I've done a training day at Foxfield Farm at the 2'3 level which was about an hour away. Want to do another one, poss 2'6, at Grange Farm cos it has water complexes and I just want to play in the water :-)

They set up a course very close to us a few years ago but I think the landowner turned out to be unreliable and they gave up with it, which is a great shame. I would have loved to have had a go, << that horse would have been perfect for it apart for the optimum time (I think it is judged on an optimum, is this right?)

I think so as if you knock a rail off you get 20 second penalty.

I've never done it but spent a day doing dressage photography at Wittering Academy and Grange Farm JumpCross course was right behind me, it looked brilliant, I'd love to give it a go.

Ooh - yes, I've seen this set up on a riding holiday - all the excitement of x-country but with less risk of death (for both!) - didn't know the name before but it was already on my list for next year's holiday!

Jump Cross is great. i teach it up in scotland. (strathearn eventing) and everybody who comes love it. and the horses do too. there is such a great atmosphere and you have kids and adults mixing but it dosnt matter as everyone supports each other. it is my favourite days teaching!!! and then the competitions always go down well.
i love seeing peoples confidence grow as they do it and eventualy feel ready for a higher class!!
would relly recommend trying it to anybody who hasn't yet!!!

I'd like to, supposed to have one very close to me (well reasonably 45mins or so) in taunton but they don't seem to ever run and training or competitions though the one in Devon does.
