Jump poles. Paint

Ive just ordered some wooden poles to come at the weekend.
They've not been painted and I don't think they've been treated with anything.
Just wondering, what kind of paint do I need to use and do I need a sort of wood treating paint first because they'll be outside?
 
Should buy tanalised timber if its for outdoor use as will last alot longer than regular timber designed for indoor work. if its tanalised you can paint them with gloss paint alternatively if not tanalised i would use a cuprionol type prduct designed to waterproof and treat against wood rot but this will need doing every year like you would a garden fence, if your going to gloss paint them give them a good covering with the cuprinol let them throughly dry out then gloss paint them and touch them up each year, if can store them in a barn / empty stable in wet weather they will last a lot longer and need much less work. if stored outside try keep them off the ground on a rack of sorts and perhaps cover with an old tarp.
 
I have tananised and gave them 2 good undercoats and 2 gloss. The new ones are out and looking good. I'm redoing the old now and losing the will to live....
 
I've been looking at those same poles as want to make some cavaletis for tea to start practicing with will be going for them in my brothers van when get chance, those are on 99p auction listing did he have a buy it now price?
 
I finally got them yesterday. The guy that delivers them is lovely, but his car blew up when he was going to deliver last week so had to wait
I cant believe how heavy they are!! wow! lol

The guy said to use an oil based primer and then gloss paint (and then dad said I need to use an undercoat too :S ) so Im going to B&Q today to buy some paint :D
