Want to get some poles to use but don't want to spend lots!! I guess I can just get round ended fence posts from a timber merchant?

If anyone's done this what size did you get?

Yes I did this, think they were about £6 each and he even cut the points off for me! They are 4 years old and still going strong. I did get some pole rolls for them to make them look better but they fell apart after a few months of being out in all weathers.

Can't remember how long they are but they are plenty long enough to make jumps, use as trotting poles etc

Found sellers website and they are 10ft long and £5.75 each :)

I got 10 painted poles for £100 last summer from ebay even got to choose the colours. If I can find his card I'll let you know but he had a ebay shop so should still be on there.

I used black plastic guttering down pipes ( you can get white or brown too) part filled them with builders sand to add weight and put end caps on them, then wrapped different coloured insulation tape round them to add the blocks of colour. No maintenance and no rotting. Well i say i did - i do have a very ingeneous and handy OH!

I got some 12 ft poles from a timber merchant/sawmill type place. OH cut the ends off to 10ft. I painted stripes on them because I wanted to but they didn't need painting as they were already properly weathered. I think I paid about £8 each for them.

I bought some 100mm diameter machined rolled poles from a local timber merchant a couple of years ago - cost about £6 each if I remember correctly.

We have 8 of them and Y/O painted them so they look pretty good - very heavy through.

Was looking to buy some more but the place I got them from seems to have closed down and I can't seem to find another supplier.
