We are about to take our pony with very limited withers (Connie shape) taking a wide/extra wide saddle to our saddler to fit ideally a jump saddle or fairly forward cut gp saddle. We were thinking of trying the John Whitaker Barnsley/Overton saddle or the Kent and master s series pony jump saddle? Has anyone tried either of these or can you suggest any others we should try on the day of the saddle fitting please

My boy is wide with very little wither and we have been on quite a journey with saddles!
From what I've experienced/heard/seen, WOW, Ideal, Arena, Nathaniel Underwood and Chunky Monkey saddles seem to be some of the best leather saddles out there for horses of a wider build.
If you are happy with synthetic there is always wintecs and possibly bates as far as I know.

Have you tried Louisa Cuomo, have recently had a saddle off her for my flat backed connie and it has changed the way that he goes, much more freer.

I’ve just bought a second hand JW overton and absolutely love it! It is the only saddle that fits my connie and won’t lift at the back after trying a number of different black country saddles, bates, harry dabbs...

There are several specialist wide saddle brands out there, you need a flat tree, many mentioned aren't, and you are likely to find that a non-changeable headplate is more successful as the trees are flatter and the (ideally flocked, not foam) panels are more close contact in their fit.
S bloom can you recommend any saddles with the tree you mentioned? I’m also looking for my over height Connemara and have been recommend an ideal grandee h and c?

I have a Kent and masters pony jump saddle on my 15.1 wide, big shouldered horse. I don’t have very long thigh bones so the 16.5 inch jump is a great , secure fit. It has the silver xxw bar in and fits well.
