Jump saddles for wide horse??

My new horse is short backed but wide behind and has big shoulders been trying the Harry dabbs range but as am tall and long in my leg finding these aren't forward cut enough for me to feel secure when jumping, saddler says we need a 17inch wide saddle what makes and model saddles do people with a similar shape horse use and found good for both of your comfort??

I have a short backed wide horse with big shoulders but I am only 5' 2". My horse has a MTM Harry Dabbs 1/2 panel saddle which fits us both perfectly but it is not forward cut enough for jumping. My saddler has suggested the same saddle but, forgive the non technical terms, a sort of floating knee flap and under panel with Velcro for the blocks that is jump-cut over the same 1/2 panel. Perhaps HD would make similar for you?

You need a thigh rather than knee block in my experience of having ridiculously long legs on fairly short natives.

My 14.2 mare has big shoulders. She has just been fitted with a 17" W Farrington Burford Event (second hand as didn't like any of the new saddles that we tried) and we both love it!

That's interesting. They look like smart saddles. Stupid name tho

I find Pessoa saddles are good for wide, flat backed horses. My little mare is surprisingly wide, yet very short backed and I am tall and leggy. A close contact 17 inch pessoa suits both of us. I also had one for my even wider mare. The Pessoa Blyth Tait event saddle had very flat wide panels.

I love mine! Lightweight, perfect for my section D. Nothing is too much trouble for Sam either
