Is it just me, or am I suddenly getting brave pants on in my old age, but i've recently been doing showx and huntertrials all over the north east starting off at 65cm and getting to 80cm indoor showx. It's our first season out after a two year break for a leg op, so basically think 4 year old in a 7 year olds body, so I'm aiming to take it slowly, but at most events I find myself thinking that the jumps are no where near up to height, or you have a 2'9" that you think is perfectly doable when your walking the smaller course, then you come across something that you're sure you've seen at Bramham. Why oh why do course organisers do this?? I know it's not BE eventing, but it would actually be nice to know the size of jumps from the schedule, or a consistency across the course. Some places can be relied upon to do this, but it's starting to turn into a lottery when I enter!

I know the feeling. I entered a 2'3 ODE, one fence on the crosscountry measured 85cm! I know brush can be a little over but 20cm on that size course is a lot. There was no way round the fence either.
The show jumps looked closer to 2'6 but I didn't meaure them but I did think a water tray with rubber ducks in was a bit of a push at that level.
Conversely I know a place where most the 90cm fences are closer to 70cm.
