Well I don't know the technical term! lol.

Apparently one can get hold of a piece of kit that starts a wagon with a flatish battery. Like jumpstarting.

Does anyone know where I can get one? Went to halfords but the lad (child

Any ideas? I am a bit embarrassed at having to ask the YO for his tractor kit all the time.

Thanks

(oh and yes, I do need new batteries

Ah, SilverSkye - that's what I was thinking of.
And it works for a 7.5t wagon?

My old ford cargo is doing my head in atm - batteries drain really quickly if I don't use it. And I don't have an isolator switch. (or at least I have never found one!)

careful with jump starting, i did this to mine last year and managed to blow the dash board!! It has a computer/ digital dash and cost me lots to replace : (

Thanks for the warning. My old wagon is no way near that high tech though, lol - I practically have to wind it up to get it moving.

It depends if your lorry is 12 volts (One Battery) or 24 volts (Two Batteries in series). If it is 12 volts then the Halfords one will work. They are called Halfords Power Pack 200 and cost £89.99. Alternatively get some heavy duty 35mm Booster Cables £40.00.

Jump starting will work but what a pain in the butt. The best thing to do is either get your batteries charged or better still replace them & fit an isolator. As has been mentioned they are fitted in about 30 minutes, are only a few pounds to buy & will negate the necessity to jump start as your batteries will not lose charge when left.

Woul def recommend getting an isolator fitted. I had the same prob as you before i got one fitted. Its been a god send esp as my batteries are in a bit of an awkward place to recharge. Now can stand for a month and fire up 1st time.

Get an isolator fitted - they are great and a second line of defence in not getting yoour lorry nicked, some insurance companies are now demanding one.

I don't know if you have a shop called 'Proper Job' in your area but they are selling the jump starter for £25.

They other thing you can do is remove the fuse to your Tacho when it is parked up as that will drain the battery as it is constantly running, you'll want to put it back in to drive as it also powers the speedo.
