I am looking at buying some jump4joy jumps for my lovely new arena.
So my question is.... can i save a few pounds just buying the regular cups as opposed to the fei safety cups they sell?
Apart from being able to turn the safety cups upside down to use as plank cups is there really much difference? I'm not buying planks at this stage so that doesn't affect my decision.

If anyone has used both and has an opinion I'd be really grateful for your advice, thanks

we sell jump 4 joy jumps. you only need normal cups for all uprights and front rails. as a show centre we use the safety cups for middle or back rails only.
for personal customers it is your choice really but all I can tell you is most people buy the normal cups and the odd pair of safety cups if they are intending to jump fairly big oxers for the back rails.
Hope this helps

Exactly this. We make jumps so find most people go with the normal cups. The tracks are really pricey and can add quite a bit to the cost of jumps.

Bear in mind that if a horse does come down on top of a regular plastic cup it will (hopefully!) break and therefore require replacing, whereas the safety cup will just come apart. Safety cups could actually be more cost effective.

We only use safety cups and don't even have any normal ones so there's no chance of people using the wrong one.

Thank you for all your replies.
I guess I shall buy a mixture of both cups.

However I'd be interested to know how many people have broken their normal cups whilst jumping. Seems a pretty extreme accident to me! Or is it more common than I think?

For the sake of £2.50 per cup, buy all safety

I have them all round, and compared to keyhole track systems where safety cups are £16 each, the jump4joy ones are cheap as chips.

I have had horses go splat on the entire jump and there is no doubt the safety cups are a godsend.

we saved money by buying wooden poles which we prefer any way.
