ah see all the kent bods coming out of the woodwork now eh!
I dont think there will be any more held at the arrow not this year anyway it was more of a 1 off but it was popular by the sounds of it so i reckon they will run another next year xx
Yep, im pretty sure they'll add it to their schedule come next Spring. Prob learnt a few lessons with organising it. But im assuming it made a nice amount for the charity.
Maybe they could do the absolute miniums over a shorter course though, i think some rounds where taking 10 mins each as it really was beginners.
As far as i know they said that it is down to the park manager to decide whether anymore will be held. He was going to see how churned up the grass was afterwards.
Not got any photos unfortunatly, did take my camera but after waiting so long to insentive kinda went.
I was helping out at the event yesterday (horse stabled there) and I think the main problems came down to 3 points.
1. There were not enough helpers, at one point I was doing the timing, jump judging the top field, putting jumps up and doing the scores for the previous class. More hands would definitely have made lighter work!
2. Nobody knew how popular it was going to be as the organisers only had about 15 entries before the day and ended up with over 25 in classes 1&2.
3. Some people in the first class were real beginners and were taking 11 minutes or so to get round (OT was 4 1/2 mins).
It basically is down to the park warden as to whether any more will be held but the ground wasn't that churned up so I'm sure he will be persuaded!
The turnout was much greater than anticipated and I know the waiting around was a HUGE problem and this was brought to the attention of the organisers. Perhaps next time it could be run with start times for all who send in entries and then late entries can go after that or give times to blocks of 5 people so that participants know what sort of time to turn up. If the course is run slightly differently then it would be possible to run them at 2 1/2 min intervals etc.
This was the first time Arrow have run anything like this and I'm sure the secretary will be happy to receive ideas for the next one. The photographer sadly dropped out at the last minute but you can view results at http://www.arrowrc.co.uk/ where future events are also published.
Glad to hear that most people had a good time (minus the waiting) but I think they now have a better idea of how to arrange the next one.
It was a shame about the hanging about, but we all learn from our mistakes and it was fun to do something different. It may be an idea not to have entries on the day if it is run again or even limit the number in the classes.
Where do we find the results?? I couldn't find them but that might be cause i am thick??
Just thought i would put my ideas across.
I think that maybe the warm up and start line could both have a walkie talkie and chalk board, that way when people put their numbers down the warm up attendant could radio them down to the start line so they could also write it down to save people pushing in. That way both teams know who is going when.
Also it would of been good if the course was set out for a couple of people to go round at once so when the first person is half way round the second person could set off. Would just make it a bit quicker for those waiting.
I think your right saying that more people was needed to help run the event but i also know that no-one was getting paid for their efforts so i think they still did a good job considering and maybe next time they will have a better idea of what it will be like.
It was frustrating waiting and i know the people running it were getting just as frustrated but overall i still had a good day and came back with a smile on my face
I looked on the website, I don't think the results are up yet.
At least you came back with a smile Kelly, I came back with my jods covered in horse sweat, horse spit and blood, ewww charming animal has a habit of throwing her head up and down showering you in sweat, spit and snot as she does it, plus she bashed her nose on the fence at one point which made it bleed a bit. Someone tell why I have horses!!!
Hmm, appears they haven't been loaded up yet, they will be published under the news and results section, I'll email the secretary and nudge her slightly.
I think the warm-up should be closer to the actual course and yes in hindsight 2 boards are a good idea. There were walkie talkies but they refused to work so we had to rely on mobile phones and the person at the start had no service so all a bit of a shambles and had to be arranged at the last minute.
Kelly 1982 - I was doing the scores and placings and I think you may have been placed in the 3rd class, there were only 2 clears so 4 people with 4 faults got placed- keep an eye on the website!
It would be a good idea to have the warm up closer to the course but unless you warm up outside then i cant really see a way of doing that. Mind you i spose if your jumping outside it doesn't really matter if the warm up is outside as well.
Thats just typical of the radios, i did think it a bit strange that mobiles were being usedbut like you say it couldn't be helped so needs must.
I did come back with blood on me but that was from me, i cut my finger washing my car the day before and it opened up again while i was trying to squeeze my fat a*se in my jods LOL

because your bum looks sooo big in that picture NOT!
I was mortified that my nice new white jods were disgusting before I had even done my first round. The pair of us looked like rent a wreck
Well you liked fine to me when i saw you but if you was anything like me i couldn't wait to get home and have a good old soak in the bath. I felt disgusting as i had been sweating in my jacket but was too cold to just wear my shirt, typical!!
