Fly does not jump well for me at home. He will refuse and generally play up and yet seems to 'get on with it' at shows. Anyone else experienced this?

How did you get on yesterday?

My horse is different at home and in the warm up, feels like you are sat on a hyper pony, but once you get in the ring she becomes a complete pro

Well, have to confess that I did not go. The weather was horrendous and I had no tax on the lorry. Oh dear, excuses, excuses!!!!! I AM going on sunday rain or shine and I WILL enter the 2ft 6"! It's just........................................he was so good the last time (indoors) and did a double clear round, (after ditching me the day before at home). He is soooooooo good when we have a lesson, BUT, at home he takes the**** and I was wondering if perhaps its me and I ride differently at home. Oh well, I will let you know Sunday Night!

Although both of my horses are generally quite well behaved at home or at a show, they are different depending on where they are.

One gets more excited at home, squeels a bit, takes me to the fences more. Where as at a show he is doing his job. The other does not put any enthusiasm into jumping at home. He does everything that is asked of him but with no real spark. Get him in the ring and his ears prick, there's a spring in his step, he tries his heart out and you can tell he's enjoying himself.

My horse Deanna is so in-consistant jumping at home - She'll stop and run out, spook at the wings she's seen hundreds of times before and generally be a bit of a pain.

Yet so far *touch wood* we've always jumped double clear at shows, she'll sometimes back off a filler but she's never thrown a dirty stop at a show like she does at home. Im convinced I ride her differently, although equally she's quite a spooky mare - and I think that when she gets to shows theres "so much" for her to look at and possibly spook at...that she actually pays far more attention to me. But I think its really just me riding badly at home!!
