Adrian has been struggling bsja lately as he's been soooooo lazy, so we've been concentrating on revving him up on the flat, then doing some baby jumping classes to get him going again. I've also given up on being subtle with his diet, so he's been on competition mix for the past few weeks.

We went to Keysoe unaff last week & got a very confident 4th out of 24 in the 75 cm, with a nice DC. Went to Lordsbridge this eve to continue the good work.

75 cm - OMG, couldn't hold one side of it, not even with my full strength. Rather random & haphazard round, but by some miracle clear until the last fence. He was on a bad stride & was determined that he knew best, so he stayed fixed on his bad stride despite my best efforts... and stopped.

Had another go & sailed over.

Decided to try the 85 cm, & did his myler combi up another hole. That single hole made all the difference - he was still more than forward, but hold-able. Far more confident, would accept an adjustment to the stride, sprang round clear. In the jump off, there was a tight turn from 1 to the second jump. He went sailing over no 1, & while I was desperately trying to make the turn, he locked onto a random // that was in the way & we came a hairsbreadth from jumping it the wrong way round.

Crisis averted by the skin of our teeth, he then jumped the rest clear...and we won!!!

We're also starting lessons there again which I'm really excited about & prob going to Keysoe at the w'end for some bsja fun. Then if I'm bored of being alive, we *might* do Tetworth Hall HT next weekend as it's only a mile from the house. Walked the dog thru some of the course at lunchtime today & 1/2 got the itch to give it a go.

Not sure what's got into him atm - he seems to have got bored with being idle. His flatwork's coming on a storm - my trainer rode him on Tues & showed me what his trot lengthened strides look like... & there is def something there. Very slight atm, but def there & very correct.

Sorry, rambling, high on adrenaline atm. Thanks for reading!!

Keep up the good work - and if you fancy venturing further afield there's a Hunter Trial at Ely Eventing Centre on April 5th!

Ooh, when are you going for a lesson at Lordsbridge? We are going to start going again as well on Tuesday evenings, I think. Sounds very good, very positive though!

Sounds like you're on a role!

I'm supposed to be off to lordsbridge for SJ on sunday. Anything i should know or you wanna tell me about the venue?

Lessons will be Thurs at 8 pm, starting either tomo or next week. Was revved up for tomo but I tore my calf muscle several months ago & was on crutches (martial arts lesson - nothing to do with Adrian) & it's a bit sore following jumping, so I'm going to see how it is in the morning.

Could really do with another outing before Keysoe, but there is no point aggravating my leg as it's still grumbly on & off.

Venue... it now has an electric gate (verrrrrry slow) so you have to push a button to get in. Parking can be tight. Indoor warmup is also tight, but whoever said that it had had a new surface was right. The old one looked like hamster bedding & rode badly. The new one looks like harrowed earth - maybe some sort of sand - & rides about 50% better.

Toilets - you'll be lucky to get one with a lock AND paper... Better than Manor Farm's though. Indoor arena - on the tight side. Surface rides rather flat.

Good restaurant with a view of the arena & which is nice & warm.

Venue doesn't really get too busy - on a busy day, maybe 20 to 25 in a class.

Hope you have fun if you go!

Well done

I'll be there on Sunday LadyGabi - taking my girl and a friends dino-horse for his first SJ outing!

The new surface is our old indoor surface!

Doesn't sound too bad then. Especially the cafetria
