I started a similar thread the other day as after reading article in H&H about how boots can be damaging to your horse I decided to find out what the best ones were.

It seems that the ones that offer most protection and are light-weight, don't rub and breatheable seem to be the very expensive ones. But after some digging I found:

http://www.prolitepads.com/products/boots/tendon.htm

http://www.equilibriumproducts.com/leg_protection/tri_zonereg_vented_tendon_boot/

I've just gone and bought the trizone ones as the length fits my horse better :)

I have the tekna ones and I'm realy pleased with them. Saw them in another tack shop the other day and they now do carbon fibre ones too but I have the ones without. They wipe up smart to so I use them for home and competing.

tri zone tendon boots are good ( or so i heard) and john whitaker boots are good too ( so ive heard)
i dont use tendon boots for jumping i just use over reach boots too but ive heard people mention theses as being good boots :)

New Equine Wear (NEW) boots are AMAZING!!!!!
I bought some tendon boots when I was 10 for my 12.2. ELEVEN years later - yes, ELEVEN, they stilll look new (bar where a mouse decided it wanted a nibble on a strap). My family only use them at shows as we jump most of the horses naked at home. they had neoprene on the inside and a rock solid strike pad on the back. machine washable. I cant recommend these highly enough. no stitching has come undone, wear marks or anything!

Out of curiosity, what is the appeal with Clarendon boots? :o
A friend owned some for years but they were so thin that they didn't really offer any protection.

Then she sold them on eBay and got around £80 for four of the tattiest, flimsiest, white boots that I've ever seen.

thanks all :D

very different views so i am going to get some cheap clarendon ones for now and look into the above makes for a few months down the line to make sure she sticks to jumping :D

thanks :)

ets - crossposted ^^^ i was told they are good by my mate - and tbh i dont want anything substantial on her legs - jjust some protection....

i dont feel the need to boot her up but i feel like i should offer her legs a little protection tbh..!

however she did do her first lot of jumps ever as a 4 year old with nothing but overreaches on...

I don't know anything about Clarendons (and haven't looked at the link) but I have stuck with the eskadron open-fronted tendon boots for mine - he doesn't really like boots to be honest and I only wear overreach on him for sjing mainly but the tendon ones for xc just because of the slightly faster speed really.

My sister has just got the closed fronted tendon/xc boots made by Woof Wear. i never used to really like woof wear much but at one point you didn't have much choice as woof wear kind of had the monopoloy of the market. however, the new ones do look very nice and aren't too bulky.
