My TB mare is rising 5 and never jumped before i got her. We have just started jumping, shes very keen and seems to enjoy it :) had some pics taken yesterday and on nearly all the pics she has one leg going over first if you get what i mean?? not sure if its because the jumps where baby sized and we should be going a bit bigger? or because shes still a baby and learning..........
Sometimes she lacks a bit of confidence and takes her a few attempts the first time but once she gets into the swing of things nothing stops her!
Last weekend i jumped her and she seemed to lose all her confidence and i was worried that i may have over faced her, but she was fine yesterday and back to her keen self.
We are having weekly jumping & flatwork lessons :)
She actually schooled lovely when we were warming up and managed a beautiful outline for more than a few seconds :)
What do you think?

She just jumps like a baby :) Nothing to worry about... she's just learning :)
I would say just make sure you give with your hands every time... In the last photo it looks as though you're catching her in the mouth slightly which will make her more reluctant to jump :)

Yes i see what you mean, every now and then she will miss a stride or throw an extra one in!
she is improving though :)

Bless her :) She's lovely :) I know it's hard not to catch them in the mouth when they take off randomly late or early :o :D

ETA- when she's ready to jump a little bit bigger you'll probably find that it's easier for her to see the stride and her technique will improve...

Its her first time with coloured wings and poles, i took her on a fun ride few weeks back and she really enjoyed the smaller xc jumps. :) she seems to have more confidence with the xc rather than the coloured poles in the school :)
