Jumping exercises for green horse

Sorry if this is wrong section, im new

as in title really.. 6 year old horse lacking a bit of confidence when fences get bigger, so any ideas for building that confidence up?

p.s. he has all the jump in the world, ability is certainly not the issue here

lots of gridwork and keep it small...build up gradually during your sessions- eventually he'll become a lot more confident but its worth spending the time now to make him confident in the long term. you can also practice lots of technical things like turnbacks and doubles and related distances but again really small (start with poles on the floor if necessary). Get as many spooky things in the arena too- get him used to going through small gaps and past banners and stuff

Lots of people rush young horses and whallop the fences up high too early and then wonder why they have issues- you are doing the right thing
