Basically pickle can be absulutely amazing at jumping then he varies week by week, sometimes he feels like he really is in a nice rhtym and then other times he wither just bombs at the jump or puts his feet between the ground pole and the jump!

He can do really well and was wondering on any tips on how to make our jumping more consistent, like tips on what to do when he is putting silly small strides in

Few videos so you can help

Perhaps shorten your stirrups a couple of holes?

Also work on shortening and lengthening the canter in the school but without the jumps - e.g. nice short, bouncy counter round one end, then lengthen a little down the long side, bring him back at the next end etc. From the videos it looks as though most of the time he meets the fence beautifully but when he isn't quite right he doesn't bother to shorten or lengthen, which is why he might then step through the fence.

You can also try grids where you change the striding a little -e.g shorten or lengthen the distance between fences just enough to make him think about where he needs to take off?

I would work on the canter and make it more bouncy so that he isnt so flat. It also looks like he isn't making much effort over the fences - do you think they are maybe a little too low for him and maybe if they were a little higher he would have to make more of them. Could you also do some gridwork to sort the striding out. It looks lovely in parts and you can see you are a good partnershop so think you will soon get sorted.
