I have an amazing dressage instructor who really encourages me and has taught me alot!!
The problem is I can't find a Jumping instructor with the same qualities I have tried a few but most either will not travel or don't turn up when you're expecting them.

Can anyone recommend a good instructor in the Somerset area?

Sue Edwards is very very good - can't rate her highly enough. Met her last Summer whilst I was living at my parents' down in Devon, I have since moved up to Buckinghamshire but thankfully she comes to teach up here every 3 weeks or so as she used to be based up this way.

She's based near Cullompton.

Would be keen to hear how you get on!

there is a very good one but i cant remember his name

his first name is alaxander it think and he is australian, i will find out his second name, he used to jump proffesionally i believe but does mostly teaching now, he does lessons at badgworth arena near axbridge, i dont know where he is based though. he is very highly rated!

How about Jo May the eventer with Faere Vision? shame came 7th at Pau**** last year.
She is based in Wedmore, about 30 mins from Taunton. Check her website out........she also does a lot with mendip riding club

Another suggestion is Andrew Lovell - he teaches at Pontispool quite often and I have his number if you want it. He is a fabulous teacher, I rate him v highly.

I know you have a dressage instructor, but if you ever want another pair of eyes or some schoolmaster lessons, I recommend Sam Twyman at Dovecote Stables in Chard - he's excellent, very reasonable prices and has improved my flatwork no end. His schoolmaster horses are great to ride too.

He recommended you to me when I was there on Monday actually! I am gathering new 'names of professionals' as I have moved the horse from Gloucestershire to just S of Bristol and most of the people I used to use won't travel to me now....sadly I'm afraid the dentist I use will because he is based Bath way! Sorry.....

I can't quite picture where on the yard that pic was taken as it looks like the carpark with the yard on the left as you look at the pic, but I am sure that is gravel and your pic looks like concrete?!

Sam is a superb trainer. I am driving over an hour in the car and an hour and a half or so in the lorry to train with him once a fortnight (swapping between his horses and mine), but it is well worth it - took the horse out on Sunday and got a 28 dressage.
