He's teaching on a weekly basis near our yard, so I was thinking about having some grid work/jumping lessons....oh and flatwork I guess as well  with him as I'd like to make the a commitment to myself to have more regular lessons, it can be a bit of a full days job going to where I usually have my lessons (which is not very often) due to not having transport so it means riding/walking miles there, anyway back to the point, I was just
wondering what his teaching style is, is he quite demanding on a youngster, will I be a bit out of my depth, does he only really teach those that can jump with their horses as opposed to youngsters just starting off.

Don't even have his number it's just our YO told me and thought well it's just round the corner, it would be really handy for us.

Hi,

I haven't had any lessons with him, but i do ride at his mothers yard and have seen him ride quite a few times. I do know people who have lessons with him.

Can i ask what yard your at?

If you do decide to have lessons, have fun!

A couple of friends have had lessons with him, one on a ex racer, who jumps max 2'6 and she said he was great and really got their confidence up and was very sympathetic, another lady i know thought he was also very good, they jump a bit bigger, but not much than a 1m!

So both were impressed and neither jumped that big!

I'm at a yard in East Yorks, Pollington, I was told he does lessons on Fridays at Baytons but he teaches up until around tea time, so that would hopefully mean I wouldn't have to book half day of work as I'd be able to get home from work and tack up and get round there for 6ish....if I'm super quick! :D

Thats sounds ideal then, he'll happily jump 2'6 but he's still a baby and I don't really have the room in our own school to do what I need to do with him...grid work etc and it's good excuse for a mini outing for him.

Great, I'll try and get his number and hopefully book a lesson. :)

Thanks

Is this about Event rider Ian Bennett??? Sorry, im so off with it today!!!

Not sure  I know he show jumps and rides for other people, but I don't know what else he does, I was just given his name thats all, don't know anything else about him so could be, or it could be someone else completely.

Ian's fab. I haven't had any lessons with him this year due to total lack of cash but he's a really sympathetic instructor and very helpful. I'd evented up to OI level years ago, then had a lengthy break and he was really good at helping me get back to jumping (on a very green horse). He doesn't make you jump over big at any time, I'm only doing BE90 type stuff.
Even though he hasn't had any ££ from me for ages, he was still really helpful and interested in how i Was getting on when I bumped in to him at a show a couple of weeks ago.
He events and SJ btw.
